Sam Concepcion has tips for aspiring singers joining singing competitions

“Actually, surreal yung feeling. I really see myself sa marami sa kanila because I know the feeling of being in a competition,” lahad ni Sam sa ginanap na virtual presscon ng Viva.

Patuloy niya, “Natatandaan ko kung paano ako mag-prepare noon, the nerves, the pressure, the whole atmosphere, the whole environment of it all kaya I really identify myself with them.”

Siguro isa sa mga mahirap ma-experience sa ganito is the pressure of the competition especially when you’re that young, when you’re a teenager.

“Minsan the pressure could really get to you kasi yung performance mo hindi mo alam kung it will break or make you. Siguro ang ma-advise ko lang sa mga sumasali ng contest, treat it like an experience, that something you can learn from whatever the outcome is – good or bad.

“It’s the way we react or how we understand the experience that help us to grow,” paliwanag ng singer-actor na isa sa judges ng Born To Be A Star.

“I think it’s a whole revolution on its own – the whole Tiktok. Ang buong success ng Tiktok is a whole new thing and I think it should be considered as its own thing.

“They spread like wildfire very easily and the people that used Tiktok they love to do it and they get famous for doing it. And you can’t discount that because they’re doing something that’s quick and easy to replicate and easy to consume, and people like consuming it,” pananaw niya.

Dagdag pa ni Sam, “I don’t think it is bad per se but I also believe in acknowledging the roots of and the things that came before like dances or songs – the roots kung saan nanggaling yung dances na yon or mga songs na yon.

“I think it’s important to learn about that as well, so I don’t see it as bad, it its own thing and it has its own life and you have to acknowledge for the good thing that it does and also see the other side of it.”
