Star Magic and Rise Studio artist Charlie Dizon rose to fame for her successful portrayal of Jane in the 2020 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) big winner Fan Girl where she also won Best Actress.

Beautiful and talented, Charlie, whose real name is April Rose Dizon Matienzo, was born on April 12, 1996. She is 24 years old.

In an ABS-CBN exclusive video, Charlie revealed that she is the youngest child in their family. "Bunso ako sa magkakapatid and malayo 'yung gap ng mga ate ko sa'kin," she said.

In the Christmas episode of Push Bets Live, Charlie said that she got to celebrate Christmas with her parents this year. Unfortunately, because of the pandemic, they were not able to travel to the United States, like they used to, to see her sisters. "Nakapag-spend ako ng Christmas with my parents. Sadly, dapat nasa US kami ngayon kasi 'dun 'yung mga ate ko. Ta's every Christmas nando'n kami talaga usually, pero dahil nga may pandemya, mahirap lumipad and senior na rin 'yun parents ko so natatakot kami. Dito na lang muna," she relayed.

Charlie jumpstarted her showbiz career in 2017 when she appeared in three movies that year—Finally Found Someone, Seven Sundays, and Loving in Tandem. Her big break came when she joined the primetime fantaserye Bagani in 2018.  Other projects she did between 2018 and 2019 included Sin Island, Parasite Island, and Pandanggo sa Hukay. She also appeared in Ipaglaban Mo and Maalala Mo Kaya episodes.

In 2020, Charlie landed a role in the primetime action series A Soldier's Heart, and starred as the young Teddie in Four Sisters Before The Wedding movie. That was all before Fan Girl, which was first showcased at the 33rd Tokyo International Film Festival, hit the local screens for the 2020 MMFF.

Another fun fact about Charlie that got people talking was her friendship with MOMOLAND member Nancy McDonie, whom she met during her training days in South Korea.

In a recent Instagram Story, Nancy posted about Charlie and referred to her as her Filipina best friend.

In the same Push Bets Live episode, Charlie explained the story behind the said post.

The actress also said that Nancy even asked for details on how to watch her movie, and that the K-pop idol already knew about Fan Girl since early this year when they saw each other in the Philippines. "So talagang inaabangan din niya.

"Kaya siyempre, sobrang grateful ko na pinost ni Nancy. Ang laking bagay 'yun," she added, thanking Nancy for being very supportive of her.

And now, Fan Girl has won a total of eight awards at the 2020 MMFF namely, Best Cinematography, Best Sound, Best Editing, Best Screenplay and Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, and Best Actress.
