Former actress Rica Peralejo does not totally mind using fake designer items.
On Instagram on Friday, January 15, Rica shared a photo of herself carrying a fake Louis Vuitton tote bag at the Bonifacio Global City in Taguig.
In the caption, Rica said that unlike most celebrities, she doesn't like indulging in luxury items.
"Okay disclaimer, hindi ako mahilig sa branded," she said.
"Binenta ko na actually yung mga branded bags ko kasi sa totoo lang hindi ko naman magamit. I would rather buy a tent with that money. Wahaha. But okay, someone gave me this and when I used it BONGGA IT DID THE JOB. I love the tote-ness of it. It’s so... tote-ful? It is like a bayong na bagay sa all at kasya all," she added.
In the comment section of her post, many praised Rica for her honesty and practicality.
"Love your being down to earth, practical momma. Encouraged by your honest views on life," said one user.
"I love your realness! And yes, we Mommas love totes na kasya all," wrote another.
However, there were also those who called out Rica for "tolerating" counterfeit items.
"Isn’t it against the law to buy/use counterfeits?" said one follower.
"Please do not support counterfeit brands. Even if it's just a gift," another added.
Responding to one of the comments, Rica said she understands if others wouldn't agree on her opinion regarding knock-off designer items.
"If others feel passionately about this, I respect it," she said. "Kaya lang ako nag-post din cause people have noticed me using LV and I don’t want them to think I use it because it is LV, but because I like the function."
"People can take all sorts of things about this. But it all boils down to values—and luxury brands is not mine," she added.
