Director Jerrold Tarog confirmed his dropping out of the Darna project on social media last January 14.

After he took over directing duties from Erik Matti on the much awaited Darna series in 2018, director Jerrold Tarog announced he is no longer part of the project when he replied to a tweet from one of his Twitter followers last January 14, Thursday.

The talented director had posted an update on the production last year which was postponed indefinitely because of the pandemic. They had already completed 15 production days and had 40 minutes rough cut of the film already done.

Replying to his follower about his continued involved in the show, Jerrold wrote, "Unfortunately, I'm not going to be involved in the TV series due to scheduling conflicts. But some doors remain open regarding my future involvement in the Ravelo universe. We will see. For now, I wish ABS-CBN & @Imjanedeleon all the best. Let's continue to support them," he said.”

 

 

Jerrold Tarog is best known for his films based on national heroes, Heneral Luna and Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral. He is also the auteur behind movies like Bliss, and feature films like Sana Dati, Mangatyanan, and Confessional, the latter a mockumentary indie film in 2007 which won him multiple local and international awards which included Best Picture awards in award giving bodies like Cinema One Originals, 24th PMPC Star Awards (digital category) and the 10th Osian Festival of Asian and Arab Cinema.

Jerrold is also set to direct the live action film of the Philippine graphic fantasy novel The Mythology Class.
