Korina Sanchez revealed that she was already engaged and was about to get married to her former boyfriend when Mar Roxas caught her attention.

“I actually had my wedding gown already started,” she revealed in an interview on I Feel U.

However, Korina shared that she had second thoughts on tying the knot back then because she always fought with her former boyfriend.

“We were always fighting and I was doubting and I said, ‘Wow this is a very important decision. I have to be super duper sure,’” she stated.

Korina relayed that at the same time, Mar caught her attention through an article she came across about the former senator.

“So why is it when I read an article about Mar Roxas parang I want to meet this guy, parang there is something here and that is an article lang ha in a newspaper,” she relayed.

According to the broadcaster, Mar was describing his ideal woman in the article.

“Sabi niya sa ideal woman niya, ‘I want a woman to be independent. I want her to have her own life. I want her to be able to do things apart from me.’ Sabi ko bakit parang dini-describe niya ako? For some reason, na-interview ko siya one time but I had a boyfriend, he had a girlfriend. And ayun, parang nagsimula na doon,” she said.

One day, Mar became a guest for her DZMM program and the former senator asked her on a date.

“When he asked me out on a date, nag-usap kami and then hindi na kami nagkita ulit. Aba walang follow-up. Na-turn off yata sa akin ito,” she said.

One year later, Korina shared that Mar contacted her again to greet her on New Year’s Day.

“Exactly one year later, tumawag siya ulit. Nasa America siya, ako nasa Pilipinas. Magha-happy New Year lang siya. Sabi ko aba okay ito ah. So pagbalik niya ng Pilipinas, nag-date kami ulit. Ayun, tuloy tuloy na iyon,” she relayed.

Korina and Mar got married in October 2009.
