The COVID-19 pandemic has brought a toll on a lot of people’s mental health. But for Kathryn Bernardo, productivity is key to cope with the "new normal" brought about by the current situation the world is in right now.

“I’ve been doing a lot actually kasi I’m the type of person who likes to be productive pero kagaya ng iba, iba-iba tayo ng ways to cope. Personally, sanay ako na maraming ginagawa kaya ayoko biglang alisin ‘yung nakasanayan ko given the situation,” she told PUSH in an exclusive interview for Lazada’s 9.9 Big Brands Sale.

But according to Kathryn, the work-from-home situation also had a few advantages as she got to spend more time with her niece Lhexine — not to mention the new things she learned at home, which included taking care of plants, among others. #PlanTita

“I work from home. Ngayon lang mas hawak ko yung oras ko kasi lahat ngayon online. Marami akong ginawang pag-aayos sa house, may mga natutunang lutuin, nag-alaga ng plants, and I got to spend a lot of time with my family especially with my niece,” she said.

The 24-year-old star said she learned to become more independent during the quarantine because unlike before, she didn’t have a team to help her with some of her daily tasks.

“I tried pa rin na medyo magpaka-busy para lang ‘yun ‘yung paraan ko para medyo i-distract ‘yung sarili ko. Maraming mga meetings pa rin, maraming mga events online. Nakakapanibago lang because before, may team kami to help us. Ngayon, mas kailangang maging independent. Pero still adapting - slowly adapting to the situation,” she stated.

Considering all the effort she made during quarantine, Kathryn said she has decided to reward herself from time to time.

“Also, if may time, I reward myself once in a while. Nag-o-online shopping ako. Or since walang lumalabas sa amin especially the first few months talaga, sobrang helpful ng online shopping when it comes to groceries or mga ibang kailangan sa bahay. Buti ngayon ang dali na lang. Very accessible siya,” she said.
