Manila Mayor Isko Moreno expressed his gratitude to a Filipino fan group of Jeon Jungkook, a member of Korean pop group BTS, for its donations for Mali, the elephant who has been living in Manila Zoo for more than 40 years.

According to the Manila Public Information Office, the group, called the Golden Alliance PH, donated food and supplies for Mali, the famous resident elephant of the city zoo. The zoo has been shuttered since January last year after then-mayor Joseph Estrada ordered its temporary closure for being tagged as a major pollutant of Manila Bay.

Composed of RM, Jin, Suga, J-hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook, BTS is one of the major players in the K-pop industry today. They are known for their hits "Boy With Luv," "Dionysus," "On", and "Fake Love."

Recently, the group became the first all-South Korean act to top the US singles chart after their latest single "Dynamite" hit number one.

As of this writing, the music video for the all-English song has already amassed more than 312 million views on YouTube.
