Angelica Panganiban took to social media to express her frustration over the proposal of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) to allow the agency to "regulate" content on streaming services like Netflix, iWant TFC, and other providers.

"Grabe na din. Pati streaming gusto na pakialaman. Papatayin niyo na talaga ang industriya. Inuna niyo ang free tv. Bukas pag gising natin, North Korea na ‘to (sic)," Angelica wrote on her Twitter page on Friday, September 4.

It can be recalled that the House committee denied ABS-CBN a new franchise last July 10, shutting down its free TV and radio operations for good.

The actress added that the said proposal will affect creative expression.

"Bakit ba takot na takot kayo sa media at entertainment? Una press freedom... ngayon pati kalayaan namin gumawa at mag kwento, totoo man o pagpapanggap, gusto niyong kontrolin," she said.

Angelica added, "Tinatamaan ba kayo? Kasi masyadong malapit sa totoong buhay ang napapanood niyo?"

Meanwhile, in her interview with Teleradyo, MTRCB chair Rachel Arenas defended their proposed measure saying it was meant to empower Filipino viewers.

"It’s not to curtail their freedom, it's actually to empower our viewers especially now 'yung mga tao karamihan (majority) are working from home," she remarked.
