Amid the franchise crisis that has shaken the ABS-CBN network, Kim Chiu stressed that she will stay as a Kapamilya.
“Sa ngayon, nasa Kapamilya network pa naman ako... May ibinigay sa aking project that, of course, I am very happy to do. Still, Kapamilya,” Kim remarked during the online press conference of Love Thy Woman on Wednesday, September 2.
She added, "On my side, sobrang lucky ako that ABS still [gives] me projects para manatili sa Kapamilya network.”
Kim did not divulge further details about her upcoming project. But she shared that she will have another one with Xian Lim.
“Malapit na rin kaming magsimula so it’s a surprise to all our solid supporters,” she stated.
It can be recalled that Star Magic head Johnny Manahan (Mr. M) revealed that the talent agency has been in talks with other networks to look for jobs for their artists.
In a previous interview with Rappler, Mr. M shared, “Our artists had already been exploring opportunities in digital space. With the rejection of the franchise, cable and cyberspace became the only venues for network content. Almost immediately, instantaneously, advertising revenues began to dry up, projects canceled, contracts suspended. And with that, we began to look elsewhere for opportunities for our artists. Talks are currently underway with contacts from Channel 5 (TV5) and Channel 7 (GMA 7)."
He added, "It will be hard, but the new landscape has, in a way, expanded. We should now do away with network wars and help each other in these very hard times."
ABS-CBN's broadcast operations were halted after the House committee denied it a new franchise.
