Kim Hyun-joong, who is best known for his role in the hit South Korean drama series Boys Over Flowers, helped save the life of a chef at a restaurant he visited on Jeju Island.
According to a Hankyung report, Hyun-joong performed first aid on a chef who collapsed at a restaurant he visited last week — eventually saving his life as he helped him regain consciousness even before the paramedics arrived at the scene.
Hyun-joong — who saw the chef faint — reportedly helped him free his airway by supporting his head and unbuttoning his shirt at the same time based on the CCTV footage obtained from the restaurant. He then told the staff to contact 119, South Korea’s emergency telephone number.
Following the successful first aid procedure, the 34-year-old actor went on to massage the chef’s chest and stomach until he managed to regain his consciousness in time for the arrival of the paramedics. Hyun-joong reportedly stayed to narrate what transpired at the scene.
Meanwhile, the restaurant owner lauded Hyun-joong and expressed his gratitude toward the actor upon finding what he did to save the life of the chef.
Kim Hyun-joong is also known for his role in the K-Drama Playful Kiss. He is a member of a Korean boy band called SS501.
