Gary Valenciano celebrated his birthday on Thursday, August 6.

The music icon marked his birthday by releasing on his YouTube channel a "live and raw" performance of his song, "Could You Be Messiah?"

"With so many questions in these uncertain times, I can only hope that we discover everything that God can be to us," he wrote.

"Thank you Freddie Santos for this beautiful song."

Less than 24 hours since it was released, the video already has nearly 6,500 views and 700 "likes."

In the comment section, fans and followers greeted Gary and thanked him for the special birthday treat.

Aside from his fans, the "Mr. Pure Energy" also received birthday messages from his family and friends in show business.

In his post, his son Gab Valenciano called Gary his "hero."

"Growing up, I would make believe I was this certain person who I idolized. I would dress up, sing, dance and scream ‘ARANETA ARE YOU READY!’. This person was and still is my hero. For many years people asked if I wanted to be like him. The answer is yes. Not in a way where I sellout stadiums or release platinum albums and records. But to one day be a husband and father first. This person happens to be my dad, and he was always dad, first," he said.

"You always prioritized us papa, and I am eternally grateful that God blessed us with you. Happy happy birthday. You deserve all the happiness in the world. I love you so very much," he added.

Gab's brother, Paolo Valenciano, for his part said he "crossed checkpoints" to see his parents, who, aside from Gary's birthday, were also celebrating their anniversary as a married couple amid the modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ).

Meanwhile, local celebrities who sent their birthday greetings for Gary include Ogie Alcasid, Jaya, and Kim Chiu.
