Korean powerhouse couple Gummy and Jo Jung-suk have officially welcomed their first child together, Star News confirms.
Jung-suk’s agency, JAM Entertainment, released a statement on Thursday, August 6, confirming the new milestone in the married life of the South Korean couple.
According to the statement, Gummy (born Park Ji-yeon) gave birth to a healthy baby at a hospital in Seoul.
“We are sharing news that actor Jo Jung-suk and singer Gummy have welcomed a new family member, and the mother and baby are both healthy,” wrote JAM Entertainment as translated by Korean entertainment site Soompi.
The statement went on: “Gummy gave birth to their first daughter at a hospital in Seoul on the morning of August 6.”
Both the Jung-suk and Gummy — who expressed their gratitude to everyone who sent love and congratulatory messages — are “overjoyed” with the birth of their child.
“The couple and their family are overjoyed at the birth of their first child. We express sincere gratitude for the support and congratulatory messages from many people, and we ask for blessings towards their family that has welcomed a new family member,” the statement said.
It was in 2018 when the couple decided to get married in a private wedding ceremony after five years of dating. The couple announced that they were expecting a baby back in January.
Gummy, who debuted in 2003 under YG Entertainment, is known for singing the soundtrack of various K-Drama hits including Descendants of the Sun and Love in the Moonlight.
Meanwhile, Jo Jung-suk is known for playing various roles in both film and television including his most recent work Hospital Playlist.
