As one of the local artists who joined the recently formed League of Filipino Actors (AKTOR), a group which countered the passing of the Anti-Terrorism Bill, the ABS-CBN shutdown, and the recent film production guidelines under the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP), Richard Gutierrez shared his thoughts on the current state of the entertainment industry during his mediacon as the new guest star of FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano.

“Ang realization ko sa nangyayari ngayon, I think despite sa lahat ng nangyayari, ABS-CBN nandiyan pa rin. Hindi sumusuko. Kumbaga I think if we look at the positive side of this, which I always like to do, ngayon ang ABS-CBN ay nabigyan ng opportunity to think out of the box, to even grow as a network. To grow creatively, to grow business-wise kasi kailangan mag think tayo out-of-the-box eh kung natin malalagpasan lahat ng pagsubok na ito,” he said.

The 36-year-old actor, who plays the role of Angelito in the top-rated action drama series, admitted he is very optimistic about the future of the Kapamilya network going full blast with producing content online. “I think now that we’re doing stuff heavily online, I think ABS-CBN will be the pioneers of online content and they’ll be number one online content for sure. So I think itong bagong tinatahak na path ng ABS-CBN, I think it’s a breakthrough and I think it’s going to be the pioneer of this kind of system,” he said.

The Ang Probinsyano actor further stressed his loyalty to ABS-CBN even after the network was not granted a franchise renewal. “I appreciate everything the network is doing. They went through a lot the past couple of months and maraming naapektuhan so I just want to stand by with the network and with the people of ABS-CBN,” he added.

With the country returning to MECQ starting August 4, Richard said that members of the entertainment industry can still contribute to society through different ways. “There’s different avenues for celebrities to help out. Kami personally ni Sarah (Lahbati), we did our own little way to help the frontliners, kung ano yung ma-po-provide namin sa kanila na tulong. We tried to help in our own little way. But at the same time, I’m happy nga dahil tuloy tuloy ang paglabas ng content ng ABS-CBN so they’re coming out with fresh content, hindi lang replays. And I think important din yung entertainment for everyone because ang daming problema, ang daming iniisip. At least somehow, in some way, us being actors, us being entertainers, makakalimutan ng ibang tao yung problema nila kahit sandaling panahon lang pag napapanuod nila kami,” he shared.
