Jerry Yan and Barbie Hsu brought back all the Meteor Garden feels all over again after the latter had the cutest reaction to her former co-star’s upcoming drama Count Your Lucky Stars with the “new” Shan Cai.
Jerry, who played Dao Ming Si in Meteor Garden, currently stars in a Chinese drama called Count Your Lucky Stars with Shen Yue — the actress who played Shan Cai in the 2018 remake of his hit 2001 Taiwanese show.
While several fans couldn’t stop gushing over the team-up of Jerry and Shen, Barbie, who played Shan Cai in the original series, playfully commented on a promotional photo for the upcoming drama via her Weibo account.
Barbie wrote: “Dao Ming si! Who are you dating behind my back!” To which Jerry replied: “It’s Shan cai!”’

In an interview promoting his upcoming drama, Jerry got caught off-guard after the host of the show asked him what he has to say about Barbie’s comments.
Dodging the question, he responded by saying: “I just feel happy that the show is finally broadcast.”
The host, prodding him to even more, asked if Jerry thinks the “old Shancai” feels jealous over his newfound tandem.
Seemingly trying to avoid giving out a definite answer, Jerry simply said: “But … I … I am also dating Shan cai though.”
Meteor Garden, one of the earliest Asianovelas to hit the Philippines, first aired on ABS-CBN on May 5, 2003.
The Taiwanese drama became such a huge success in the country that the stars even came to the Philippines to stage sold-out concerts.
In 2018, the show had a Chinese television remake which starred Shen Yue, Dylan Wang, Darren Chen, Caesar Wu, and Connor Leong.
The show was based on a mix of different elements from the original Japanese manga Hana Yori Dango and other adaptations.
Life after Meteor Garden
After the success of Meteor Garden, both Jerry and Barbie went on to star in several successful films and TV shows.
In 2004, Barbie’s first appearance since Meteor Garden — Eternity: A Chinese Ghost Story — aired in the Philippines via ABS-CBN.
Barbie Hsu eventually got married to a Chinese businessman named Wang Xiaofei back in 2010. Four years later, Barbie gave birth to her first child, a son named Wang Hsi-yueh followed by a daughter named Wang Hsi-lin.
While Jerry Yan’s current relationship remains a mystery, he was known to have in an on-off relationship with Taiwanese model and actress Lin Chi-ling who later married a member of a Japanese band.
