Embracing my morena skin has been a journey of accepting who i truly am — a phenomenal Filipina. It’s about time that we wear our color and wear it proudly to the world and to the universe. 💫💙 P.S. We followed the proper health and safety protocols imposed by the IATF during the shoot. ❤️ Photo by: Jacques Arado of @theblackboxstudi0 Accessories by: @christophermunar Makeup by: @makeupbymavo Hair by: @jonaxlucas x @hairbyvaleriecorpuz #ParaSaPasig #ParaSaPilipinas #ParaSaMgaGuro #ParaSaPanginoon #Riri4MUP #MUPHPasig #RianaUniverse #naRIANAsiya #PangindianMoYan #MaamUniverse #TeamRianaPangindian #MissUniversePH #TeamPhilippines #OnePhilippines #InspiringWomenwithAction #BeyondCoastlines #BeautifulTransformation #PhenomenalWoman

NO... to being in tune with my “masculine energy 100% of the time” NO... to saying YES to everyone, to be deemed as a good woman. NO... To being quiet and not speaking your truth 💅🏽🤪😏 NO... to the mentality of “ a woman needs to be a mother or else she’s not a real women” NO... to judging, shaming, criticising & being mean to any person but most especially women. Discovered as a model by @dannybooc at the age of 12 in one of the little corners of Kamputhaw Cebu, I have been exposed to the amazingly beautiful world of fashion as well as the hard work and intense process behind the glitz and glam. This photo from a recent shoot is beautiful but in a way, I feel the need to be brave and take responsibility to address an important message to women – especially to young girls. In an era of photo-editing apps available at a consumer level, anyone can instantly present unattainable and unrealistic versions of themselves. It has sadly become a norm to filter, adjust waistlines, arms and blur out the bumps and pimples before posting a selfie online. It takes a lot of confidence to post the most real version of yourself on the Internet without worrying to end up as a topic in someone else’s group chat. The most disheartening thing is, almost every young girl has a photo-retouching app on her phone. Manipulating a photo has developed to be acceptable and a new norm, as social media has become the platform in portraying perfect images of ourselves. But how can we promote and practice self-love if our “best self” is not our real self? Social media might be a source of insecurity and pressure, but if used properly, it can be a source of empowerment too. I’m not physically perfect in this whole made-up concept of perfection created by society (feel free to zoom in for stretch-marks, dark spots, pimples etc.) but I am a happy woman with or without filters. And I think happiness and good health are the most important things in life. Beauty begins the moment you decide to be happy and be your true self. Own your flaws, embrace your uniqueness, and take pride in your magnificence. You are phenomenal! • HMUA @joselsee STYLED BY : @joseicuizon PHOTOGRAPH BY : @mattpingkianphoto #aprielunfiltered
