Gretchen Ho has announced the first recipient of the bicycles she is giving away under her “Donate a Bike, Save a Job” project, amid the coronavirus pandemic.
On Facebook, the athlete-turned-host said she gave the first bicycle to 18-year-old Kean Arcilla Ramos of Muntinlupa City, who recently went viral after he was photographed delivering coffee-based beverages using a pair of rollerblades.
“To da rescue!! OUR FIRST BIKE RECIPIENT: 18 y/o Kean Ramos receives a bike from the #DonateABikeSaveAJob project,” said Gretchen in her post on Thursday, August 20.
In an interview with INQUIRER.net, Kean said he sells coffee and chocolate jelly to help shoulder the medical bills of his father who is sick.
“Ako po ay nag bebenta ng coffee and Chuckie jelly upang makatulong sa tatay kong may sakit (enlargement of prostate) na naka-catether and unable to work,” said Kean.
“Ninasa ko pong tumulong sa aking tatay na nagshoshoulder lahat ng bills dahil kami ay natatambakan na po ng bills,” he added.
Last week, Gretchen announced that she is giving away 50 bicycles to “50 deserving people.”
“Because a BIKE can spell the difference between keeping a livelihood or not,” she said.
Those who wish to avail of the bicycle may message Gretchen on her social media accounts or send her an e-mail at gretchen@womaninaction.ph.
“You need to JUSTIFY WHY YOU ARE DESERVING, and you need to show proof when my team contacts you,” she said.
“You may also nominate someone lalo na kung wala silang internet but we'll go through the same verification process,” she added.
