Parokya ni Edgar frontman Chito Miranda is thankful that he has gotten to spend more time with his family amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

In an Instagram post on Sunday, August 9, the rock singer shared his realizations in the last few months that he has been on lockdown due to the declaration of the community quarantine to curb the spread of the coronavirus.

\"Sobrang daming hassle ang dinulot ng virus na 'to,\" Chito began.

\"In my case, tumigil ang gigs. Sarado halos lahat ng mga restaurants at bars na part owner ako of, at yung mga hindi naman namin sinara, wala namang kinikita. Tinuloy lang namin yung operations para at least may pang-sweldo kami sa mga staff, at may pambayad kami ng rent,\" he said.

Mass gatherings such as concerts were banned, while restaurants and bars were shuttered after the government placed the entire Luzon island under enhanced community quarantine in March to curb the spread of the coronavirus.

\"Buti na lang meron akong condo at townhouse na pinapa-rent... at least may monthly income ako, just enough to sustain my family's needs,\" he continued.

Chito went on: \"Pero naaalala ko, bago mag-lockdown, sobrang sagad ng sked namin sa Parokya. Palaging kong sinasabi na, 'Ang dami ko ngang pera, 'di ko naman nakakasama pamilya ko.' And kahit gusto ko mag-slow down sa pagbabanda to have more time for my family (not naman 'totally quit', but to just 'cut down' dahil sobrang enjoy pa naman ako tumugtog), hindi ko magawa dahil 'di ako makatanggi sa laki ng TF (talent fee). Mukha kasi akong pera hehe!\"

\"Kahit anong sabihin ko na, ''Wag muna tayo masyado tumanggap ng mga gigs', kapag sinilaw na kami ng salapi, napapa-oo na lang talaga kami. Ang ending, araw araw pa rin kami tumutugtog, at never natutuloy 'yung ninanais ko na pahinga.\"

Now, Chito has finally gotten the chance to take the break that he was longing for.

\"At dahil dun, nagpapasalamat ako,\" he wrote.

\"'Di man ako kumikita ngayon ng todo-todo, araw araw ko namang kasama ang pamilya ko. Sobrang healthy din ako ngayon kasi I sleep and wake up early, regularly. Mas healthy din 'yung diet ko ngayon kasi lutong bahay ako everyday, hindi tulad ng dati na halos araw araw fast food because we'd always be on the road,\" he said.

He also said that his wife, actress-entrepreneur Neri Naig, feels more \"relaxed\" now that she no longer has to constantly worry about Chito's safety.

\"Mas relaxed si Neri ngayon kasi nandito lang ako sa bahay palagi, at 'di sya nag-aalala sa safety ko, kasi syempre mas relatively safe dito sa bahay, compared sa kapag biyahe ako ng biyahe,\" he said.

Chito then reminded his followers that while the current situation due to the pandemic is far from ideal for everyone, \"we still have a lot to be thankful for.\"
