Darren Espanto and Jayda Avanzado on Friday, July 31, surprised their fans with the unexpected release of their collaboration single, "Sana Tayo Na."
The song is a revival of Jayda’s father Dingdong Avanzado’s original composition, which was a part of his 1993 album titled Coming of Age. The new version was produced by Jayda and ABS-CBN Music creative manager Jonathan Manalo.
“Sana Tayo Na” is about two people’s hopes of being together in the future with assurance and stability. It’s a lighthearted take on expecting that the stars would align and unite two people in love someday.
Both singers shared their collaboration with their fans via Instagram posts.
Posting an old photo of himself with Jayda, Darren wrote: "The kids in this photo just released a new song that they made together! Hope y’all could take a listen and stream 'Sana Tayo Na!'"
Jayda, for her part, posted a similar photo and said: "These two lil babies officially have a single out now together. Give it a listen!"
Earlier, the two teased their collaboration by tweeting each other "Sana tayo na", which immediately landed on Twitter's Philippine trends list after their fans and followers flooded the site with assumptions on what their posts meant.
"Sana Tayo na" is now streaming on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, and other streaming platforms.
This marks the first time that Darren and Jayda recorded a song together.
The two had been linked romantically after they worked together on musical variety show ASAP as part of the singing teen group G!.
