Kapamilya actor and talent manager Ogie Diaz called out lawyer Ferdinand Topacio on his body-shaming comments against Kapamilya actress Angel Locsin, even bringing it to the attention of Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) as a possible sign of misconduct. Now more and more celebrities are speaking up on behalf of the actress-philanthropist after the controversial lawyer posted tweets about Angel saying, “Yung Show ni Angel sa GMA7 ay pinamagatang LOBO, kaya LUMOBO sya” (Editor’s Note: Lobo aired on ABS-CBN and not GMA) and “May Slipped Disc daw. Mataba pa rin” last July 20.
Last July 26, Dionne Monsanto, who also worked with Angel on the set of her first ABS-CBN primetime series Lobo in 2008 posted on her Facebook page to clap back at the body-shaming lawyer. Sharing a photo of the lawyer’s statement, she said, “Mura lang po salamin sa Shopee, at free delivery pa. Bili na rin po kayo ng leeg at bra” and “Mamaya na po sana tayo mangutya ng ganyan kung 6 footer na tayo at may 6-pack abs. Mmmkay.”
Dionne also reminded her followers online to stop body shaming by writing in her comments section, “Sorry guys, di dapat tayo nangbo-body shame, pero sobrang nakakagalit ‘tong mga kuda niya. Ang bait ni Angel. Sobra. She doesn’t deserve to be spoken of the way this creature did. #ProtectAngelLocsin.”
Topacio is the same lawyer who body-shamed Kathryn Bernardo last May. Kathniel fans, various netizens, women’s rights groups banded together then to condemn his actions and block his efforts to get a derogatory hashtag about the actress trend.
