South Korean girl group Blackpink released on Tuesday, July 28, the official teaser poster of its highly-anticipated first full-length studio album, much to the delight of their fans and followers in the Philippines and around the world.
On their social media accounts, the four-member act shared the teaser for the new record, which showed a pink tiara and the text, “THE ALBUM.”
The album, it said, will be released on October 2.
Blackpink is also set to release another single from the album this August. The song is a collaboration with US singer Selena Gomez, according to Korean entertainment website Koreaboo.
It follows the launch of their hit song “How You Like That” in June, which broke a total of five YouTube records, according to the Guinness World Records. These are: most-viewed YouTube video in 24 hours, most-viewed music video on YouTube in 24 hours, and most-viewed YouTube music video in 24 hours by a K-pop group.
The live premiere of “How You Like That” reached 1.66 million peak concurrent viewers, which also set new records for most viewers for the premiere of a video on YouTube and most viewers for the premiere of a music video on YouTube.
Meanwhile, immediately after the release of its teaser poster, “The Album" and "Blackpink" topped the list of trending list on Twitter Philippines.
Comprised of members Jennie, Jisoo, Rosé, and Lisa, Blackpink debuted in 2016 under YG Entertainment. Aside from “How You Like That”, the group is known for their hit songs “Kill This Love”, “DDU-DU DDU-DU”, and “FOREVER YOUNG.”
