Jennylyn Mercado took to social media to share her take on this year's State of the Nation Address.

On Monday, July 27, President Rodrigo Duterte delivered his 5th SONA speech.

On her Twitter page, the actress remarked that praising the efforts of the government is unnecessary since that is their job in the first place as public officials.

"The role of the government is to promote the welfare of this country sa kahit ano mang sitwasyon," she said.

"That is why any progress or positive action na nagawa nila ay hindi na kailangan bigyang puri dahil 'yun naman talaga ang trabaho nila," she added.

The actress then highlighted that the frontliners are the ones who deserve praise.

"Ang mga tao na dapat bigyang pugay ay ang ating mga makabagong bayani. Maraming salamat sa ating mga doctors, nurses, teachers, mga sundalo, at ang iba pang mga frontliners na patuloy ang serbisyo sa ating mga Pilipino," she stated.

"Saludo po kami sa inyo. Maraming maraming salamat," Jennylyn concluded.

In a separate tweet, Jennylyn also asked about the action plan of the government after Duterte urged the Filipinos to cooperate in beating COVID-19 in his SONA speech.

"Sige po. Pero ano po ang plano?" the actress tweeted.

Jennylyn has been very vocal on social media recently about her stand on certain issues hounding the country.

According to the actress, one of her realizations recently is that it is important to educate oneself and to speak up about topics that concern the country.

“Isa sa mga realizations ko recently ay it’s never too late na ieducate ang sarili sa mga nangyayari sa bansa. Responsibilidad mo yun bilang Pilipino. To speak about it is doing the bare minimum. Let’s start a conversation. Marami pa akong gustong matutunan," she tweeted last July 20.
