Local celebrities are sharing their black-and-white photos as part of a viral challenge on photo-sharing app Instagram.
Dubbed the “black-and-white picture challenge”, the challenge is a resurfacing trend and involves people posting black-and white photos on social media along with the words ‘challenge accepted’.
They also ask their friends to do the same by tagging them in the comments section.
Among the local stars who took on the challenge include Charo Santos-Concio, Angel Locsin, Gary Valenciano, Dawn Zulueta, KC Concepcion, Maja Salvador, Kim Chiu, Jodi Sta. Maria, and Dimples Romana.
Maymay Entrata, Pokwang, Karla Estrada, Beauty Gonzalez, Bela Padilla, and Yassi Pressman also joined the challenge after being nominated.
The “black-and-white picture challenge” first became a viral craze in 2016.
Originally, it was aimed to promote cancer awareness, with thousands of Instagram users having used the hashtag #cancerawareness in their posts.
These days, however, the trend is used to support women empowerment, with hashtags like “#womenlifteachother,” “#empoweringwomen,” and “#womensupportingwomen.”
Others are also using the challenge simply to promote positivity on social media at this time of anxiety and uncertainty.
