After joining the rally to call for the renewal of the ABS-CBN franchise earlier this month, Nikki Valdez took to her Instagram account last July 20 to share her sentiments regarding bashers who have been attacking Kapamilya supporters like her online. In her post, the A Soldier’s Heart actress reminded netizens that celebrities are humans with feelings too.
She wrote, “It’s funny how bashers tend to play victim after magboomerang sa kanila lahat ng pinagsasasabi at ginagawa nila. 🤷🏻♀️
“We may be ‘artistas’ or public figures whose lives are exposed to the public but you have to remember, tao lang din kami. So pag may sinabi kayong hindi maganda, do you expect us to just let it go? Pag sumosobra na kayo, hindi naman ata pwede yun.”
The 41-year-old actress and entrepreneur, whose cake business flourished during the past few months, said she is still trying to understand and accept how people can sound so mean and negative online. “Being opinionated and tactless or inconsiderate are all different from each other. Trolling is a totally different thing too! Minsan nga kaya pang tanggapin pag troll pero yung hindi, diko talaga maintindihan how there can be so much evil in a person. Pwede naman kasi magcomment nang hindi nambabastos. I believe we were all taught to think before we speak. Sana pwede pa natin ipractice yun,” she said.

Aside from fighting for the right of her home network to start broadcasting again, Nikki hopes to help remind people to be more considerate and discerning of their comments online. She added, “Subukan natin ilagay ang mga sarili natin sa sitwasyon ng iba bago tayo magsalita for we will never understand what others are going through until we are in the same situation as they are.”
Nikki started her career in ABS-CBN with her role as one of Dolphy’s nieces in the long-running comedy series Home Along Da Riles which started in 1993. She starred in numerous TV and movie projects under ABS-CBN and was most recently seen this year’s action drama series A Soldier’s Heart.
