Comedian Michael V. has tested positive for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
The “Bubble Gang” star, whose real name is Beethoven Bunagan, made the announcement in his vlog on YouTube uploaded on Monday, July 20.
In the video titled “POSITIVE”, Michael said he experienced flu-like symptoms last time he tried to film a vlog.
"Siyempre nag-isolate na kagad ako, nag-quarantine na kagad ako. I took medicine nagpa-check up ako sa doctor online, I got better the following day," he said.
“Hindi naman tumaas nang todo ‘yung temperature ko. The highest was 37.1 as of kanina. Pero merong flu-like symptoms talaga. A few hours ago parang merong weird na sensation dito sa may nasal area ko. Isa sa mga symptoms daw ng COVID is ‘yung loss of smell atsaka ng taste,” he added.
According to Michael, his test results came back positive on the 8th day of his isolation.
I must be doing something wrong... Be safe with your families everyone! P'wedeng tawanan ang mga jokes pero community quarantine is a serious matter. 'Pag nagkasakit ka (kahit hindi COVID-19) at dinala ka sa ospital, there's a chance na mahawa at makahawa ka. Kaya make the most out of your time. 'Pag hindi matigas ang ulo, mas mabilis matatapos 'to. #StayHomeStaySafe #WagMatigasAngUlo
"SARS-CoV-2 (causative agent of COVID-19) viral RNA detected, so it's positive right now. Fever na lang, yung loss of smell nare-regain ko na siya," he said.
He said is still in the process of recovering from the disease.
“Alam kong hindi normal yung nawala yung pang-amoy ko and I was counting na may kinalaman talaga yun sa COVID but I was praying na wala but it turns out... tutuloy lang natin mga sinabi sa 'tin na kailangan gawin and we'll get through this. We've been through worse. Sobrang nami-miss ko na yung pamilya ko."
“I’m still at a loss for what to expect. Honestly, I am worried not just for myself kundi pati sa pamilya ko,” he went on, as he tried to hold back tears.
“With your prayers and with God’s help, I think we can go through this.”
Michael, otherwise known as “Bitoy” is the latest celebrity to test positive for COVID-19, after Christopher de Leon, Iza Calzado, Sylvia Sanchez, and Niña Jose.
His announcement comes just after the country’s confirmed coronavirus cases reached the 67,456 mark this Sunday, July 19. There has been 1,831 deaths, with 22,465 recoveries, officials also said.
