The couple made the announcement on Sunday, July 19, via their social media accounts, with Maria saying, “I said YES.”

Sharing photos from the surprise proposal, the Brazilian model wrote: “God’s promise to me a long time ago was that I would always feel loved! And today was powerful, I could feel the Holy Spirit moving in that room when I said YES! I said YES today, and I will continue to say YES for the rest of our lives. I love you! I’m yours @tanner_mata.”

The news was met by congratulatory messages from their fellow “Pinoy Big Brother” housemates, including Maymay Entrata, Edward Barber, Vivoree Esclito, Daniel Matsunaga, and Coraleen Waddell.

Tanner, 25, and Maria, 22, were previously rumored to have tied the knot after sharing photos of them looking ready to tie the knot on Instagram last June.

Maria, however, clarified that the bridal shoot was for work, as she said in her caption that she and Tanner “did not get married.”

Not much is known about Tanner and Maria’s relationship.

According to a Star Cinema article, the couple has been known to be close friends even prior to their stint on “Pinoy Big Brother” in 2016, as they were under the same modeling agency.

Thailand will always have a big space in my heart ❤️ It was my home for so long, and it is one of the most peaceful places I’ve ever been. This is my first photo of 2020! It was taken in Ko Samui, where I spent New Year’s Eve with my family. I feel so sad to all my friends who won’t be able to be celebrating Songkran this year the way they’re used to. Songkran is the celebration of the Thai New Year, it is such a joyful holiday. Even though things are not the same, do not lose your faith or your joy. Things will get better! Thailand will always have a big space in my heart ❤️ It was my home for so long, and it is one of the most peaceful places I’ve ever been. This is my first photo of 2020! It was taken in Ko Samui, where I spent New Year’s Eve with my family. I feel so sad to all my friends who won’t be able to be celebrating Songkran this year the way they’re used to. Songkran is the celebration of the Thai New Year, it is such a joyful holiday. Even though things are not the same, do not lose your faith or your joy. Things will get better! Thailand will always have a big space in my heart ❤️ It was my home for so long, and it is one of the most peaceful places I’ve ever been. This is my first photo of 2020! It was taken in Ko Samui, where I spent New Year’s Eve with my family. I feel so sad to all my friends who won’t be able to be celebrating Songkran this year the way they’re used to. Songkran is the celebration of the Thai New Year, it is such a joyful holiday. Even though things are not the same, do not lose your faith or your joy. Things will get better!
