Angel Locsin expressed her gratitude to her fellow actress Sarah Geronimo for speaking in solidarity with their home network ABS-CBN, following the decision of lawmakers to shut down the media giant for good on July 10.

In a statement through her social media platforms on Sunday, July 20, the Popstar Royalty rallied behind the Kapamilya network, which has supported her singing and acting career for more than a decade, saying her ABS-CBN family has been instrumental in molding her into the person she is today.

On Instagram, Angel said she’s happy that Sarah has finally spoken out, and denied that she was alluding to the singer when she vented her anger over her fellow ABS-CBN stars who chose to remain silent over the network’s lost fight for a fresh 25-year franchise during a noise barrage protest outside the network’s headquarters in Quezon City last Saturday, July 18.

“Nagsalita si Sarah,” she said in a comment.

“Iniisip ng tao pinaparinggan ko sya, pero hindi eh,” she went on. “I know how ‘pure’ she is. At nakakatuwa yun.”

On July 10, the House of Representatives Committee on Legislative Franchises voted 70 to 11 to reject a new broadcast franchise for ABS-CBN Corporation, keeping the network's main broadcast platforms off the air and places thousands of jobs at risk amid the pandemic.

Angel, who has been a Kapamilya since 2007, has been one of the most vocal supporters of ABS-CBN amid its franchise woes. As early as February, The General’s Daughter star was among the first high-profile celebrities to air her support for the network, bringing up the thousands of workers whose jobs would be jeopardized by the shutdown, as well as millions of Filipinos who are now deprived of their usual source of information and entertainment.
