Actress-politician Vilma Santos was among the celebrities who took to social media to express their support for ABS-CBN after the National Telecommunications Commission ordered the broadcast giant to stop its radio and television operations following the expiration of its franchise.
"HINDI AKO MAGPAPAALAM DAHIL ALAM KONG MAGBABALIK KAYO!!!" said the Star for All Seasons on Instagram Tuesday, May 5.
"MABUHAY ABS-CBN," she added.
Vilma, House Deputy Speaker and Lipa City Representative, is among the House members who have sponsored measures in favor of ABS-CBN's franchise renewal.
In filing House Bill No. 4305, Vilma noted ABS-CBN’s stature as the “Philippines’ largest entertainment and media conglomerate.”
“ABS-CBN has remained steadfast in its commitment to reach out to as many Filipinos as possible by delivering their quality core programs closer to our countrymen by taking advantage of emerging broadcast technologies,” she said.
Vilma has worked with ABS-CBN for several years, even as she dabbled in politics by running for public office in 1998.
