After initially announcing that he and his entire family and staff had tested negative for the coronavirus, former senator Bongbong Marcos has confirmed he has COVID-19.

After admitting earlier this week that he was doing self-quarantine after a trip to Spain, the former senator’s spokesperson posted on the Bongbong Marcos official Facebook page last March 31 that Bongbong’s test results from the RITM (Research Institute for Tropical Medicine) in Alabang came out positive for the COVID-19 virus last March 28.

The post read:

I am deeply touched and overwhelmed by your concern over my condition. Don’t worry, I am doing ok and contrary to popular belief, I am home on self-quarantine. As my sister said, a few days ago I was feeling a little under the weather and as a result went to get checked. We are still waiting for the results. Fortunately, I feel much better and am getting stronger by the day. I have no doubt in my mind that this is partly due to the excellent work of the nurses and doctors who helped me during this time. I am inspired and moved by the show of courage and commitment of our health workers. You are our true heroes in these most trying times. Thank you!! I am hoping and praying for everyone’s safety and good health. Please don’t let the sacrifices of health workers and other frontliners go to waste. Let us all stay home. Again, thank you for your love and concern.
