20 Filipino artists have come together to dedicate a song to health workers and other frontliners in the fight against the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.
The song, "We Heal As One", is inspired by the theme song of the recent Southeast Asian Games and is looking to boost morale—particularly among health workers who are in the forefront of the country's fight against COVID-19—with its theme centered on unity and cooperation during this time of crisis.
Lea Salonga, who sang the "We Win As One" song, is among the local artists who was featured in the music video for "We Heal As One", which was released on Thursday, March 26. Other singers include her fellow "The Voice of the Philippines" coaches Sarah Geronimo, Bamboo, and apl.de.ap, as well as fellow music icons Gary Valenciano, Martin Nievera and Ogie Alcasid.
The other performers were Lani Misalucha, KZ Tandingan, Jamie Rivera, Inigo Pascual, Alden Richards, Isay Alvarez, Robert Sena, Pops Fernandez, Menchu Lauchengco-Yulo, Paolo Valenciano, and Jed Madela.
The song also serves as a call for donation for the Philippine Medical Association to aid the thousands of health workers who have been risking their safety and their lives as they deal with the COVID-19 pandemic.
"We Heal as One", arranged by Jimmy Antiporda and produced by Eloisa Matias, was released just as the Department of Health confirmed that it has recorded a total of 636 cases of COVID-19 in the country. Among them, 38 died while 26 recovered.
