Jack Ma is set to give out 50,000 COVID-19 test kits to the Philippines through Manny Pacquiao’s foundation.
Chinese billionaire Jack Ma is set to donate more than 50,000 COVID-19 testing kits to the Philippines, boxing champion and Philippine senator Manny Pacquiao announced.
The 41-year-old legislator shared the good news via social media, emphasizing the importance of unity in these trying times and thanking the Alibaba co-founder for his generosity to the Filipino people.
“We’re excited to announce the Jack Ma Foundation, in partnership with @PacquiaoFoundation is pledging 50,000 test kits to combat COVID-19 in the Philippines,” Pacquiao wrote.
He added: “With everything that’s happening around the world today, there is no better time to unite and do whatever we can to help each other.
““Thank you @JackMaFoundation for this generous donation,” he said, concluding his post.
The Philippines, which is currently under a state of public health emergency, only has a total of 2,000 coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) test kits according to a recent Senate inquiry.
As of this writing, the Department of Health has already recorded over 142 people who have acquired the fast-spreading disease. Of the total reported number of cases, twelve have died while three have recovered.
