REVIEW: Julia Barretto plays dual roles in her new iWant digital series ‘I Am U’

Elise is still mourning the death of her older sister Celine when she unexpectedly meets her doppelganger Rose who saves her from an accident. The girl reminds Elise so much of her deceased sibling that she eventually invites Rose to live with her and her parents in their home and welcomes the orphan into their family.

Things start to get tense when Elise gets jealous of all the attention her “long lost twin” has been getting from her parents and friends. When a house party they attend ends in tragedy, Elise’s guilt builds up after Rose’s death. Or does it really? The series keeps viewers guessing less and less as the episodes go deeper into what really happened and who really survived in the party.

In her first digital series, Julia Barretto plays the dual role of Elise and Rose with equal intensity. Switching from the classy Elise to the less privileged Rose is an interesting acting challenge for Julia. I Am U also stars Tony Labrusca as Elise’s boyfriend Kyle.
