UPSTREAM PH on Monday, December 7, unveiled the official trailer of the family-drama movie Coming Home, which is an entry to this year's Metro Manila Film Festival.
Directed by Adolf Alix Jr., the film stars Sylvia Sanchez, Jinggoy Estrada, and Ariella Arida.
Coming Home centers around a married couple who try to build their own family. While the patriarch, Benedicto “Benny” Librada (Jinggoy), is working abroad, he meets a woman named Mercy Dungca (Ariella). They get to know each other and have a relationship. His wife, Salve Librada (Sylvia) later learns about it and calls it quits with her husband.
After 10 years, she and her children are surprised one night to see her husband in front of their house, and is very sick.
Speaking with Philstar, Director Adolf said that Coming Home is a story of reconciliation.
“How will the family accept it (the father’s coming home)? How will the kids accept it?” the filmmaker said.
"I think the family drama is a very powerful material to show the experiences of the Filipino family. Maganda pa ring platform ang family drama kasi it’s for all ages, you have the first layer, which is the couple. Then, you have the younger layer. This way, the audience will understand the family spectrum," he added.
The film also stars Martin del Rosario, Edgar Allan Guzman, Vin Abrenica, Shaira Diaz, Julian Estrada, and Geneva Cruz.
Originally an entry to the cancelled Metro Manila Summer Film Festival (MMSFF), Coming Home is among the 10 full-length films that will be streamed online at the 2020 MMFF on Christmas Day.
Other entries for the 2020 MMFF include Magikland, The Missing, Tagpuan, Isa Pang Bahaghari, Suarez: The Healing Priest, Mang Kepweng: Ang Lihim ng Bandanang Itim, Pakboys: Takusa, The Boy Foretold by the Stars, and Fan Girl.
