With the growing popularity of their onscreen tandem in the teleserye Ang sa Iyo ay Akin, Grae Fernandez and Kira Balinger both agree that they are more focused on being a strong tandem onscreen after first working together in Funny Ka, Pare Ko and the iWant digital series Spirits Reawaken in 2018.
“I’m very thankful din sa nangyari sa amin dito sa show na ito and yung naisip ko kasi actually na hindi ko in-expect na magkaka-show ako this year or anything because of the pandemic nga. Tapos biglang may ganitong napakagandang show na napakaganda ng storya. For me it’s a very great story talaga and me and Kira talaga I think we’re doing our best to give the best quality things we can give to the characters and we’re very thankful na na-a-appreciate naman ng mga tao yung characters namin and very thankful kami dun,” Grae said.
Kira admitted she already feels “kilig” when she and Grae do scenes together, which makes their onscreen chemistry even more convincing. “It’s very humbling and it’s very overwhelming at the same time. Personally, from my experience, when I’m acting with Grae, na-fi-feel ko yung kilig. Pero when I’m watching yung eksena namin sa TV, yun mas na-fi-feel ko. So to have them say that we’re the next big love team, it makes me feel very blessed and I’m very happy to be partnered with Grae for this show,” she admits.
Compared to his onscreen role, Grae says he is more outspoken than the very devoted Jake. “Yung character ni Jake more of masunurin. Masunurin din naman ako pero more on collaboration and parang I have to speak out my point of view first bago ko marinig yung point of view ng parents ko. Siyempre I have to weigh kung bakit yun na yung nararamdaman niyo at yung nararamdaman ko kailangan ko i-explain sa kanila. So kailangan talaga ng more communication. That’s the key talaga para malaman natin kung anong compromise ang puwede nating magawa,” he explained.
Kira shared that she always wants to always be a good daughter, on and off camera. “Generally speaking, lahat naman tayo gusto maging mabuting anak. So we always want to do what makes our parents happy. But there are times na yung bagay na yun na magpapasaya sa parents natin, hindi yun para sa atin. So I guess kailangan talagang pag-usapan at maging open and as long as whatever you want to do that would make you happy doesn’t put you in danger, doesn’t hurt anybody, you can bring it up with your parents. Wala namang harm yun,” she explained.
