Having always been a big part of Pinoy Big Brother since the show first premiered in the Philippines in 2005, Toni Gonzaga said that the successful global reality show franchise has managed to adjust to the times now that it has branched out from television.

“I think the whole PBB family, we have grown so much with the show. We have experienced different milestones together as a family. Our family keeps growing. Ngayon iba’t ibang online platforms. We have Kumu partnered with us. May YouTube, may TV. Talagang nakakatuwa kasi we are surviving and we are thriving bilang isang pamilya. Parang looking back 15 years ago, ang sarap balikan kasi hanggang ngayon nandito pa rin ang PBB,” she said.

The 36-year-old veteran host and actress also explained that the reason PBB has become so successful is connected to the mystery of Big Brother’s real identity which has never been revealed.

“I think yun yung charm ng PBB, na for 15 years hindi natin pa rin kilala ng publiko kung sino talaga si Kuya. Tapos for 15 years akala nila si Kuya si direk Lauren (Dyogi) pa rin. Kaming lahat na hosts laging natatanong. Magkaiba yung identity ni Kuya at saka ni direk Lauren. I think yun yung magic ng PBB.

Now that she has to do her spiels for PBB within the comforts of her home, Toni said there still are a lot of things she will miss about having to live in a new normal set up.

“I think lahat ng host will agree with me na ang pinaka ma-miss namin yung pagpunta sa Bahay ni Kuya and PBB.

“Tapos yung team namin sa spiels, yung team namin nila Bianca (Gonzalez) for Uber with Robi (Domingo). Sila Kim (Chiu), sila Melai (Cantiveros), sila Enchong (Dee), magkakasama kami pag weekends eh so it’s like a mini-get-together for us. Alam ong magsasaluhan, magtutulungan, yun siguro yung ma-mi-miss namin.

“On the bright side naman, I think si Melai and Bianca will agree with me on this dahil kami yung mga mommy, it’s also so refreshing to be working from home. It’s something new. But bilang mga mommies, this is something na parang dream come true, na parang hindi mo kailangan umalis ng bahay, magagawa mo pa rin yung commitment mo and at the same time, napagtutuunan mo ng pansin yung household mo, nandito ka pa rin, parang you’re still present physically. Yung technical team, yung mga nasa control booth and kami who will be working from home.
