For the US talk show The Ellen Show 12 Days of Giveaways campaign this year, the show has been highlighting and honoring incredible frontliners in the country all month long.
In the December 9 episode of her show, Ellen shared that she recently met a Filipina licensed practical nurse named Flor Ross who is based in Los Angeles, California and is a COVID-19 survivor.
The fully recovered nurse admitted the pandemic has hit her family hard financially. “Right now, me and my husband share a car. If I don’t have the car, I sometimes ask my co-workers to pick me up and I walk or sometimes I take Uber,” she shared.
The Pinay nurse thought she was being interviewed for a new ellentube series and had no idea that the host had a big surprise in store for her instead. “I became a nurse because since I was a kid, I love helping people. The pandemic has changed everything. People who are sick, since they cannot be visited by their family, I will be the one who’s going to be by their side and let them know that there is this person who loves them,” she shared.
After presenting Flor with a brand new car, Ellen honored the frontliner for her selfless service. “You’re amazing. What is it like for you to be on the front lines like all this time? It’s just amazing what you’re doing. Just know how much we love you and appreciate you. When you’re exhausted, during those times that you can barely go on anymore, just remember how many people love you and how many people are so grateful for you,” she said.
