TV Patrol anchor Bernadette Sembrano turned emotional as she revealed for the first time that she had suffered a miscarriage.
Bernadette opened up about her loss in a Facebook vlog, which she recorded prior to her guest appearance on the ABS-CBN musical variety show ASAP Natin ‘To.
She began by introducing her daughter Mary Olivia, or simply, Molly.
"I want you to meet Molly. Mary Olivia, 'yung baby namin ni asawa... Nakakaiyak pala 'no? Wow. Malalim pala 'yung bubog," she said, as she tried to hold back her tears. "'Pag napag-usapan ang ganyan, minsan nahuhukay."
"I wanted to talk about Molly because today is a big day for us. We are going to 'ASAP' to perform," she added.
According to the news anchor, it was on December 8, 2018 when she and her husband got the confirmation that their baby was successfully implanted. However, they lost her before her birthday in 2019.
"When we lost Molly, that's when I learned to honor Molly's life by living a full life and saying yes to a lot of things," she continued.
"Why? Ang pinanggagalingan nito, I remember when I was pregnant with her, I had a journal. Palibhasa na-late na akong na-pregnant, I thought to myself, I should write her like mga habilins, in case I don't see her grow up. But anyway, we lost Molly," she said.
Bernadette said that losing her daughter pushed her to overcome her doubts and fears and pursue her lifelong dream of singing and songwriting.
Last August, Bernadette became a member of FILSCAP, or the Filipino Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers.
She helped write the lyrics of "Ang Sa Iyo Ay Akin," the theme song of the revenge-drama series of the same name, which was performed by pop-rock band Aegis.
"In my heart I knew that the way that I could honor Molly and remember her is if I live a life that I wished for her, which was a life saying yes to a lot of things, a life serving, and, in my case, music," said Bernadette.
"I started serving sa chapel because matagal ko nang pangarap na mag-serve sa simbahan, pero naco-conscious ako kaya hindi ko nagawa-gawa," she added.
Aside from her daughter, she also dedicated her ASAP guesting to her late father.
"Today I take Molly with me and I also take Papa with me. Papa naman was crucial because we lost Papa in April of 2019. Magkakasunod sila," she said. "But I promised Papa that whenever I would sing, I would remember him. So I take them with me."
She went on: "Ang point ko lang today, we are celebrating 'bubog.' Marami tayong bubog.
And I'm pretty sure, my Papa and Molly, who are both in heaven and in my heart, are very happy and proud because I am with them," she said.
