While promoting her new iWant TFC digital series Oh, Mando! premiering online starting November 5, Barbie Imperial revealed that aside from dealing with the challenges of the pandemic, she is most worried for her family members living in their hometown of Virac, Albay which was one of the hardest hit areas ravaged by Typhoon Rolly earlier this week.

“I think the most challenging was mahiwalay ka sa pamilya mo. Ang hirap talaga mahiwalay sa pamilya ngayon. And for me kasi, actually before kasi ang pinaka-importanteng bagay sa akin is may trabaho ako kasi pag wala akong trabaho, wala akong mabibigay sa pamilya ko. But now, dahil sa pandemic na-realize ko na, Oh my God, ang mga pinaka-importanteng bagay ngayon ay maging healthy ako at ang pamilya ko. So yun talaga yung pinaka-challenge for me, yung mahiwalay ka sa pamilya mo. And lalo ngayon, bumabagyo ngayon. Until now ay bumagyo so until now yung biggest challenge para sa akin, kasi I have family left in Albay and Catanduanes. It’s been three days. Wala pa rin kami balita sa kanila. Yung buong Virac. Catanduanes sobrang washed out talaga and maraming namatay so yun yung challenge for me, being away from family,” she shared during the Oh, Mando! mediacon held last November 4.

Even after joining showbiz after entering the Pinoy Big Brother house as the teen housemate known as the “Doll Along Da Riles ng Albay” in 2015, Barbie said she has never forgotten her roots. But because of the current situation, their family tradition will have to change this December.

“Sobrang iba kasi before, every Christmas umuuwi talaga kami sa Albay sa pamilya namin. But ngayon, sobrang delikado, mahirap sumakay ng eroplano. Kahit land travel nga hindi rin ganun ka sigurado na makakapasok ka or makakabalik ka sa dati mong tinitirhan kasi strikto ngayon, yung mga travel pass, health clearance. So it’s going to be different this year pero masaya ako dahil kasama ko ngayon yung kuya ko and yung mama ko and yun lang din naman yung importante sa akin, na magkasama kaming tatlo,” she said.

Watch the original Dreamscape Entertainment and Found films BL series Oh, Mando! starting November 5, Thursday at 9 pm on iWant TFC. Oh, Mando! also stars Alex Diaz and Kokoy de Santos and is directed by Eduardo Roy.
