After co-founding Sanggre Productions last year with her former Encantadia co-stars Iza Calzado, Sunshine Dizon, Diana Zubiri, and director Mark Reyes, Karylle said she is proud of their production company which is busy with their upcoming partnership creating new shows for new streaming platform WeTV Philippines.
“We were really inspired to create job opportunities. I don’t think we’ve ever worked this hard. We’ve been pitching left and right to be honest and we’ve had a lot of bad pitches and all that,” she revealed during the WeTV Philippines media launch last November 18.
Their team is currently in production for the new Iza Calzado-Ian Veneracion romantic comedy series B&B: The Story of the Battle of Brody and Brandy.
While doing home quarantine with husband Yael Yuzon, Karylle said she still kept herself busy collaborating with other fellow musicians to help raise funds for affected communities.
“The music scene has been doing a lot of work actually together under the leadership of Ryan Cayabyab of course our national artist. We’ve been doing a lot of fundraisers. In March, we did Bayanihan Musikahan for the pandemic and now its continuing. We’re going to do something and they’re going to announce it on Friday. So the musicians are coming together for that but also with Caritas Pasig. We’re doing a project with several people that we’re going to be helping and of course the people affected by the typhoon. But also yung mga ospital din na humingi ng tulong. So very, very soon you’ll be watching that,” she shared.
Another goal, Karylle said, is to put focus on the importance of TV and movie soundtracks. “Coming from the music standpoint, the pandemic brought the music scene together. In my heart talaga, as a K-drama fan I’ve always dreamed of a big soundtrack for Philippine shows so my mission right now, is to add as many songs per show, pero movie. So I’ve been working with legal and mga publishers also and some songwriters because nag-volunteer din ako as staff sa Bayanihan Musikahan so my network has grown and I really gotten to know so many singer-songwriters and sabi ko, ‘One day malalagay natin itong mga kuwento natin also through music.’ Ang dami nating talented musicians. Kailangan magsama-sama lahat. Eto na yun eh. Wala ng boundaries. We’re just bringing everyone together to create this work. Tama na yung mga war,” she added.
The Sanggre Productions series, B&B: The Story of the Battle of Brody and Brandy will be available online next year as part of the original series lineup of WeTV Philippines.
