After starring in last year’s Metro Manila Film Festival top grosser Miracle in Cell No.7, Bela Padilla said she is happy that the film will finally be available online as it is set to premiere via a new local streaming platform.

“We’re very happy that we’re now exclusively available on WeTV. Yung mga humihingi ng ways to watch Miracle in Cell No.7, the whole year I’ve been getting DMs on kung saan nila mapapanuod yung movie. Eto na guys, we are on WeTV. So ayan, on behalf of the amazing cast that we got to work with, to the Viva Films team who put this all together, we’re so excited that you can finally watch us,” she shared during the WeTV Philippines media launch last November 18.

The 29-year-old actress said she is open to new platforms but also respects the history of her TV and movie production.

“Personally, I think that we’ve seen a lot of changes. I grew up watching VHS to VCD to DVD to Netflix and all the online platforms and now we have WeTV and I’m excited to start watching local content here and original content here. Things will always change. A hundred years ago, it was completely different. So ako personally I’m just grateful now that the Philippines is not ahead but at least kasabay man lang tayo ng mga neighboring countries natin na we can say that we’re releasing original content on a different platform. I am an actress today because I watched movies with my grandfather in the cinema. But that can change for my grandchildren,” she said.

“I feel like we just always have to be open to what’s new and what we can do. I just hope that the actors, the creative team, the staff and everyone can be treated or respected as they were when we were working for the silver screen and or even better kung hindi mapantayan ay mahihigitan pa yung level of respect for the work.

“I feel like also because of this pandemic, I saw a lot people trying to stop actors or people from the industry to talk when there are certain issues. In fact when you think about it, we are some of the biggest tax payers in the country, parang I feel like maybe having these kinds of platforms will now show people that actors are credible, they can even adapt to a new environment when given the chance. So this might open a lot of doors for us as well,” she explained.

With her blockbuster MMFF film once again available to viewers starting this month, Bela hoped they can revisit the heartwarming father-daughter story that is the remake of a 2013 Korean film. “To the families out there na hindi nakanuod, sa magbabarkada na hindi nakanuod ng Miracle in Cell No.7, at sa lahat ng nagtatanong this year kung saan nila mapapanuod, finally we are available exclusively on WeTV. So please download the app. It’s a cheaper way to spend quality time with your families and your friends,” she added.

Miracle in Cell No. 7 also stars Aga Muhlach and Xia Vigor. The film will be streamed online exclusively on WeTV Philippines starting November 27.
