With the country still reeling from the effects of super typhoon Ulysses last November 12, more and more local celebrities have started mobilizing the community to help raise funds for donations and supplies to people in affected areas all over the country. U-Turn actress Kim Chiu said she has also been making plans to do her part to help.
“I saw nga the news and the people na natamaan ng bagyo nitong huli so I’m having a virtual concert dapat on December 12 but I’m going to make it into a benefit concert so all the proceeds of that virtual concert na Bawal Lumabas since nag-start yung Bawal Lumabas sa Pagtulong nung time na nag-lockdown tayong lahat, so this time ABS-CBN is giving me a concert to close the Bawal Lumabas but I suggested na this time na this time let’s make it a benefit concert so I invited mga YouTubers na nag-viral at the same time, so we’re going to have a big viral concert. So nasa KTX.ph siya so I invited some of the YouTube creators also to guest with me and lahat ng proceeds dun will be given sa mga Kapamilya na natamaan extremely nitong bagyo. For now yun pa lang yung initial na plano ko, kagabi lang,” she shared during the Tiger Crackers Kitchen Snack Hacks event launch last November 14.
The 30-year old “Bawal Lumabas” singer shared why her concert next month will be a very meaningful event for her. “Parang sabi ko, ‘Hindi ko kaya mag-concert na to end this year na parang para saan? This happened so parang I think it’s a way also na parang sabi ni God, ‘Gawin mo pero tumulong tayo’ so parang ganun. I’m happy also to do that and yung mga na-invite ko ngang mga YouTube creators, I’m excited to do that at the same time, it will help a lot of people. Meron kasi sa Marikina na Bagong Marikina so we will partner with them and ngayon nga yung nangyari sa Cagayan valley baka makipag-partner din kami sa officials sa Cagayan Valley,” she said.
In her most recent Instagram post, Kim shared how she felt about the typhoon victims. She wrote, “After what happened yesterday, as I watch the news, so many Filipinos are badly affected by the typhoon, 🥺 most people are scared of the strong wind and rain, but after that a big flood that covered the entire villages, the houses, the people, their pets, most especially the children. My heart broke, seeing them helpless. Dimo Alam ang gagawin mo to help that time,.. all I could give is to pray for them, for God to provide them with Strength and Hope that they need in this trying times. Today we can do something. ️ Let’s help one another. Posted in my IG story where we can donate para sa ating mga kababayan. 🤍 stay safe and keep the faith. 🏻”
While doing home quarantine, the Tiger Crackers celebrity endorser said she has also found to understand more about politics and let her voice be heard. “I’m hopeful with yung change that we needed kasi hindi naman magbabago lahat ito if yung leader natin is yung meron talaga siyang care sa lahat ng tao. So I think yung nangyayari ngayon is nakikita natin na puwede na magbago yung ganitong sistema kasi kung ganito’t ganito pa rin, walang magbabago talaga,” she added.
