After winning the Miss Universe Philippines crown last month, Ilongga beauty Rabiya Mateo said she has been busy with her new duties as a beauty queen as well participating in different activities like the recent launch of Resorts World Manila's (RWM) signature Yuletide celebration Grand Fiesta Manila 2020 and its 11 Thrills of Christmas promo.
“I’m actually here in Newport Manila in their plaza and right now I’m sitting in front of this giant Christmas tree. Sa Resorts World Manila paskong pasko na talaga and I’ve been looking around, napaka maraming tao and the spirit of Christmas ramdam na ramdam na talaga dito. Natutuwa ako.
“Before we went to Baguio to have our pageant, we stayed here in Holiday Inn and I had fun. I can’t wait to experience Resorts World Manila tomorrow because it’s going to be my free day. I’m going to roam around the area,” she shared.
After besting 40 other candidates from all over the country, the 23-year-old beauty admitted she has a lot to be thankful for.
“I’m very much thankful that as of the moment I am healthy and my mother and my brother is also healthy. In these times in which a lot of people are suffering from sickness, na when you wake up in the morning you realize that God has blessed you so much and after all, health is wealth. Therefore, God has blessed me with so much wealth,” she said.
With the yuletide season less than a month away, Rabiya said she has very simple plans on how to spend her first Christmas as Miss Universe Philippines.
“Actually I feel like God has blessed me with all the things I’ve been asking Him. So now I want to give back to other people and honestly there’s nothing in my mind that I want to have right now but to go back and to hug my mother. I want to spend my Christmas here. I want to bring my mother here in Manila if that’s possible and I want to go around and experience Resorts World Manila kasi dito paskong pasko na talaga. I want to experience the spirit of Christmas despite the fact that we are still suffering and experiencing a pandemic,” she said.
During the Grand Fiesta Manila 2020 event, Rabiya also shared her message for the country to keep in mind during the holidays.
“Every Filipino, I know this 2020 has been a tough year for each and every one of us and personally, it opened a lot of new perspective in my point of view. And I am encouraging you all to appreciate the little things, to celebrate the little victories that we have, and in the spirit of Christmas, let’s continue to give back to other people. Because that is the essence of life, that is to love everybody. I hope that in the coming months, everything will go back to before and we will be able to appreciate things as beautiful as it is. Merry Christmas everybody,” she added.
