Sharing the story behind his great act of kindness, Basel said he decided to help the two young boys because they were selling vegetables to buy food instead of staying at home.
According to Basel, treating the two young boys was his way of rewarding hardworking people and supporting local vendors and businesses.
“Saw these two young boys selling vegetables on the street under the scorching heat of the sun. I asked them why are they selling instead of staying at home and their answer is they need to work to buy some food, so I decided to buy them all what they want in a grocery store. Rewarding some hardworking people and supporting local vendors and businesses,” he wrote in a Facebook post.
Basel went on to say that he wants to use his platform to inspire the revival of the Bayanihan spirit or the Filipino custom of communal unity.
“Reviving bayanihan. I just want to use this platform to help those who are in need and to send awareness. If I can do it, you can too. Spread kindness and positivity,” he said.
As a way of helping the two young boys, he let them choose whatever they wanted at a grocery and paid for them. Basel also paid for the tricycle which carried the two boys and their groceries to their home.
