Getting lost in unfamiliar places when visiting other countries for a vacation is normal — and Janice de Belen is no exception.

In Carmina Villaroel’s latest vlog, Janice de Belen recalled a few of her experiences when she went to the South Korea for a vacation with Carmina, her sister Gelli de Belen, and another friend when she went there on her own.

Having been to Korea seven times already, Janice said it was her first time to visit the land of K-Drama that time.

“Naalala mo ‘yung nagpa-facial tayo ‘di ba? Sabi niya, ‘Oo ihahatid ko kayo tas iikot ako sandali du’n sa mall. Tapos ako na bahala umuwi mag-isa. ‘Yung pinuntahan namin ano lang ‘yun, mga 8-10 minutes na walk to where we stay. Ang lakas ng loob niya. Di siya makabalik,” Gelli said.

“Nawala ako,” Janice admitted, laughing.

“At ito ha. Natapos na kami sa facial, wala pa rin sa hotel,” Carmina told Candy Pangilinan who was there at the chat. “Nagkape pa tayo. Tapos kausap mo pa siya. Napunta na ata siya sa Myeong-dong,” Carmina added, talking to Gelli.

According to Janice, she went to Myeong-dong on her own as Carmina and Gelli decided to get a facial.

“Nakapamasyal naman ako. Kasi hinatid ko kayo ‘di ba? Nakarating ako ng Myeong-dong. Nag-ikot ikot ako sa Myeong-dong. Ngayon dahil siguro ang daming entrances and exits ng Myeong-dong so du’n sa nilabasan ko, parang walang familiar du’n sa paligid,” Janice said.

She went on: “Sabi ko ‘Hindi ako ngayon makabalik sa loob ng Myeong-dong kasi alam kong hindi na naman ako makakalabas. So ano daw ang ginawa ni Janice? Nagtawag ng taxi. Sumakay ng taxi. Eh malapit lang eh. Sure akong malapit lang. Buti nga sinakay ako eh.”

A big fan of K-Culture, Janice said she came prepared with some of the Korean words she learned throughout the years. Then again, she still seems to get lost each time a South Korean responds to her queries.

“Alam mo ang dami ko nang baong salita. Pero ‘yung sagot du’n sa salita, [wala],” Janice told Candy who admitted that she hasn’t been to Korea before.

“‘Yun na nga. ‘Yun bang parang ‘Annyeonghaseyo’ pero ‘pag sinagot ka, ‘ha?’,” Jellie said.

Admitting that she always had a thing about impressing other people, said: “Favorite na favorite ko ‘yan. Gusto kong magpasikat. ‘Pag may titingnan ka, ‘Eolmayeyo’ tapos ‘pag sumagot, blanko.”

To which Gelli responded: “Nagyayabang-yabang ka na marunong ka.”

Meanwhile, Janice shared another story wherein she got lost when she went to South Korea on her own.

“Mag-isa ako. Feeling ko kasi kaya ko na. Kasi may Google Apps naman eh. Du’n sa Google, makakahanap ka ng sasakyan. Tanga-tanga ni Janice. Kasi minsan madaming option. So mamimili ka.

So tinatanong niya. In fairness naman silang mag-asawa, chine-check nila ako. ‘San ka pupunta today?’ Sabi ko ‘I’m going to Sinsa-dong. I’m going to ride a bus.”

According to Janice, she was told by her Korean friend to take a taxi, but she chose to ride the bus instead.

“Sabi nila, ‘Why not take a taxi?’ Sabi ko ‘No, I want to experience the bus,” she said. “Definitely wala ako sa Incheon kasi wala kong krinoss na bridge. It’s just that kumbaga para kang papunta ng Parañaque. Sabi ko medyo malayo na. Tinawagan ko ‘Jin, I think I’m lost. Sabi niya, ‘Take a picture of ‘yung makikita mong sign.”

She went on: “So pinicturan ko tapos sinend ko sa kanya. Sabi niya saken bumaba ka na, mag-taxi ka na pabalik. Buti na lang may taxi papuntang Sinsa-dong. Kung hindi, hindi ko na alam kung nasaan ako.”

Towards the end of the vlog, Janice shared the third time she got lost on her way to Myeong-dong during her solo trip. Watch the video below:

In another vlog, the four talked about each of their favorite K-Dramas.

Carmina said she hopes the four of them can go on a vacation to South Korea once the pandemic is over.
