Korean heartthrob Lee Min Ho has officially become the first Korean celebrity to reach 20 million followers on his Facebook and Instagram accounts. The 33-year-old actor made social media history in South Korea last October 4, Sunday according to his management agency MYM Entertainment.
Lee Min Ho’s most recent project was playing the lead role of King Lee Gon in the popular Netflix series The King: Eternal Monarch which made its international release on Netflix just last April. His agency recently shared separate posts in celebration of his Facebook and Instagram account reaching 20 million followers. Lee Min Ho also has 3 million Twitter followers and 28.63 million followers on the Chinese microblogging site Weibo.
After completing his mandatory military service last year, the Hallyu star made his return to the small screen with the romantic-fantasy series The King: Eternal Monarch. Lee Min Ho first gained fame in South Korea and other parts of Asia with his role of Gu Jun-pyo in Boys Over Flowers, which was based on the Japanese manga of the same name. The series also earned him the Best New Actor award at the 45th Baeksang Arts Awards.
Lee Min Ho is also the first Korean celebrity to have a wax figure at two different Madame Tussaud wax museums, with his figures currently on display in Shanghai and in Hong Kong.
