As one of the lead actors in the upcoming BL movie The Boy Foretold by the Stars, Adrian Lindayag said he feels blessed because he never imagined working in front of the camera, much less starring in a film.
“Yung movie at yung career ko mismo. Kasi I didn’t expect to be first of all, an actor. So parang destiny for me. And itong movie na ito destiny,” he shared during The Boy Foretold by the Stars virtual presscon held last October 30.
In The Boy Foretold by the Stars, Adrian plays the role of one of two senior high school boys, who through the help of a fortune teller, find each other at an optional school retreat called Journey with the Lord.
The BL star said he has always been comfortable around cameras even while he was growing up.
I grew up playing in movie sets and TV sets. Playground ko yan. And happy talaga ako pag nasa set ako. Yun yung course ko nung college Philippine Mass Media,” he admitted.
The Walang Tulugan alumni also shared that he is thankful to get the chance to be mentored by veteran actor and host German Moreno when he first started acting. “When I was 18, pinakilala ako ng daddy ko kay Kuya Germs (Moreno). Yun yung una kong tikim in front of the camera. I was 18 sa Walang Tulugan. Tapos nung nandun ako, after a while, bago mamatay si kuya Germs, merong nagsabi na hindi naman daw mag-wo-work yung career ko kasi bakla ako,” he revealed.
After a stint as a fashion stylist, Adrian said he unexpectedly found himself back on stage doing theater before he started acting onscreen again. This time, with an advocacy for the LGBTQ community.
“Kasali sa advocacy ko bilang actor is to play queer characters, to portray characters that are three-dimensional. We portray roles as real people. Inaangat natin yung dangal at dignidad natin,” he adds.
The Boy Foretold by the Stars also stars Keann Johnson and is directed by Dolly Dulu.
