Aside from currently starring in the teleserye Walang Hanggang Paalam, Paulo Avelino shared his other passion behind the camera as he co-produces the episode Aswang starring Ivana Alawi in the two-bill horror iWant TFC digital film Sitsit. Paulo’s production company WASD Films also co-produced the film Ngayon Kaya which stars him and Janine Gutierrez. Sitsit is his first venture in producing a horror film.

“I wanted also portfolio for my film production. So parang ito na yung start tapos sila sir Deo (Edrinal) yung tumutulong din naman sa akin and nag-a-advise sa akin. Medyo mahirap kasi pag full time na rin talaga so I’m very thankful for this opportunity that we had for iWant. When we were creating this episode, we were choosing what to start with. Then eventually Aswang came up because andun yung aso, nakakatakot din siya. So inunahan namin yung soap niya,” he shared during the Sitsit mediacon held last October 23.

Paulo admitted he actually enjoyed the experience of being a producer and not having to be part of the cast for the first time. Kumbaga andun pa rin yung freedom nila for their creative expression of the shots, para sa mga artista, and I’m just there to help and see what I can help with,” he explained.

Choosing Ivana Alawi as their lead actress was a no-brainer for Paulo who said the only hitch they had during shooting earlier this year was controlling the crowd during their outdoor shoot in the busy district of Poblacion, Makati.

Matuwain. Pero napakasimple. Nung nasa Poblacion, medyo mahirap din for the production nun kasi parang lahat gustong magpa-picture, gustong lumapit kay Ivana. By the way this was shot pre-COVID so before everything happened,” he shared.

Scorpio is directed by Ato Bautista, while Aswang is directed by Erin Pascual. Paulo co-produced Aswang.
