After finishing shooting her first horror film project with iWantTFC called Sitsit, Ivana Alawi recalled how she was initially worried before accepting the lead role of a working girl named Joyce in the episode Aswang.

Kasi ang tagal bago yung last appearance ko sa TV or ganun, ang tagal ko before makapag-film ng movie or ng online. So ito na ulit. Nakaka-pressure. Actually. Nung nakita ko na ako lang, sabi ko, ‘Sure ba kayo? Kasi takot ako. Bakit ako lang? Hindi ako sanay na sa akin nakatutok lahat. So sabi ko baka hindi ko siya magawa ng maganda,” she admitted.

During the virtual presscon for Sitsit held last October 23, the sexy actress revealed how much fun she had during their shoot. “Talagang bago ako umoo kinausap ko talaga yung management ko, sabi ko takot akong mag-isa kasi never pa akong nagiging lead or naging mga ganun. Actually when they told me na Aswang, excited ako kasi first horror movie and mahilig ako sa mga horror so sabi ko perfect ito kasi I’ve always wanted to try horror scenes, yung mga baliw baliw, so I had so much fun filming it. Nahirapan ako kasi mag isa lang ako. Na-pressure lang ako dun. But aside from that, it was really fun. So this was the first movie na talagang by myself and lahat talaga from the start to the end,” she recalled.

For her character, Ivana said the hardest part of acting was having to do it in public while walking the streets of Poblacion, Makati. “Yung mabaliw, kasi never pa akong parang nag full psycho ka na. Never ko pa siyang nagagawa. So natakot ako kasi sabi ko baka hindi ko siya malabas na the way na ini-expect nila or hindi ko siya magawa ng maganda. So yun yung isa sa pinaka na-pressure ako dun. And aside from that, yung mga scenes lang na outdoor kasi naka-set up kami tapos maglalakad ka sa Poblacion. So kinabahan ako dun kasi may hawak pa akong aso tapos hindi nila alam na nag-shu-shooting. Akala nila naglalandi landi lang ako sa kalye kasi one camera lang kami nun eh,” she said.

Because they had already finished shooting even before the start of the lockdown due to the pandemic last March, Ivana said. she is thankful not to have had to experience doing lock-in taping yet. “Sa akin kasi I’ve never tried working simula nung nag-lockdown, simula nung lumabas yung COVID. Ako kasi takot akong umalis sa pamilya ako. Sanay kasi ako na everyday magkakasama kami, sanay ako na umuuwi ako sa bahay after ng taping so I haven’t tried working in a lock-in taping. Pero I’ve seen naman yung mga strict protocols, I talk to yung mga nakakasama kong artista tapos inaalam ko din kung paano,” she added.

Scorpio stars Jake Cuenca and is directed by Ato Bautista, while Aswang is directed by Erin Pascual. Paulo Avelino is co-producer for Aswang.
