Filipino singer Arnel Pineda, who is the front man of American rock band Journey, is re-releasing a Christmas song for the upcoming holidays.
In his interview for the online show Push Bets Live on Friday, October 16, Arnel shared what he has been up to during these days. According to him, he has been devoting his time writing songs. “I’ve actually at least have accomplished mga 20 finished songs at saka siguro another 15 ideas. Lots of poems, I write a lot of poems,” he said.
He mentioned about the Christmas song that he is re-releasing for the upcoming holiday season. “Tapos itong Christmas song ngayon that I’m going to try to release sa first week or second week of November. The title is, ‘This Christmas.’ I’m actually just re-releasing it. It was already released last 2015 but to my gut feel, wala pa masyadong exposure. So we’re going to try to expose it this year, and hopefully, mas mapick-up siya this year. [It’s] with new twist, a little bit of new arrangement, ganon,” he said.
Meanwhile, Arnel also brought up plans for his life story to have a film adaptation, and shared that Joker scriptwriter Scott Silver and Crazy Rich Asians director Jon Chu are working on this project.
Sharing more of his current endeavors and future plans, he said, “There’s this movie that’s going to happen. It’s my life story. Warner picked it up and then the scriptwriter for this movie would be Scott Silver, the scriptwriter for the smash hit Joker… and it will be directed by Jon Chu.”
When asked about the details of this movie, Arnel went on, “Tinatapos ‘yung script for now, finafinalize pa ni Scott Silver before they could start choosing kung sino ‘yung mga perfect fit sa mga characters na papasok dun sa life story ko.”
“Siguro mga ano pa ito, mga next year pa. Well I’m sure it’s happening,” he added.
As to how hands-on he is in this project, he said that they would set online meetings to collaborate.
Taking the opportunity to inspire through this film, Arnel said, “If this movie happens, I just want to dedicate this sa mga musikero natin, singers, sa mga kababayan natin na if they think at the early age or at the late age or time of their life, too late na para mag-succeed, it’s not [sic]. Anything is possible basta ano lang, sabi nga ng Journey, ‘Don’t Stop Believing,’” in reference to Journey’s hit song.
