Iza Calzado admitted that shooting Ang Sa Iyo Ay Akin has been challenging not only because of the pandemic but also because the show's storyline is heavy.
“Nakakapagod. Hindi lang dahil dun sa new normal set-up no? Ang bigat kasi. Teleserye siya, yung ang bigat ng material. Lagi kaming may bakbakan,” she stated in an interview with Toni Gonzaga on I Feel U.
She further relayed, “Nung nakaraang bubble namin… parang more than 15 times ako nag-breakdown nung araw na yun. Alam mo yung sasabihin ko talaga yung, ‘Sandali lang po.’ Tapos pagkatapos ng eksena, ‘Diyos ko.’ Gumaganun na talaga [ako]."
Our new teleserye, ANG SA IYO AT AKIN, premieres tonight. ❤️ Grateful and honored to be working with our amazing team on such a blessed project. We hope you enjoy the show we have worked so hard on during this unique time to bring entertainment and, hopefully, good learnings into our lives. 🙏🏽
Despite the challenges, Iza is thankful for the overwhelming support that the series has been receiving from viewers.
“Salamat sa lahat ng mga nanonood. We feel so deeply blessed talaga na people are watching despite our situation now with the network and everything that has happened," she remarked.
The actress added, "'Yung fact na nakapagpatuloy lang kami, malaking bagay na. Ngayon na mainit yung pagtanggap, mas ginaganahan kami. Sa mga oras ng pagod, 'yun talaga ang binabalikan namin."
Iza returned to shooting Ang Sa Iyo Ay Akin last June after surviving COVID-19 in April.
“Sa totoo lang napaka-grateful ko. The fact na nag-uusap tayo ngayon, the fact na nandito pa ako ngayon is something I am grateful for everyday apart from this show actually being given a green light, parang ang daming pinagdaanan ng show, ang dami nating pinagdaanan lahat ng Filipino," she said in a virtual conference of the show last August.
She added, "Personally, medyo mahirap hirap din yung pinagdaanan ko earlier this year na para bang pag-iniisip talaga naming lahat, parang nung pinag-usapan naming lahat sa town hall meeting namin sa show within the cast na parang we have been chosen by God to do this, parang ganun eh. Ganun yung pakiramdam."
Aside from Iza, Ang Sa Iyo Ay Akin stars Jodi Sta. Maria, Maricel Soriano, and Sam Milby.
It was the first ABS-CBN series to debut on Kapamilya Online Live.
