Yeng Constantino, who last released her last album called Synesthesia back in 2018, revealed that new music is in the works.
During the presscon for her upcoming film with TBA Studios titled Write About Love, Yeng Constantino gave a hint about what to expect from the album.
“I worked with my idol again. Si Raimund Marasigan of Sandwich. So prinoduce niya ‘tong EP. First time kong gagawin na parang six tracks lang ‘yung album. And pinarinig ko na sa manager ko ‘yung ni-record namin. Ayun, medyo mas dark ‘yung sound. Mas ambient. Tapos masasabi ko na ito ‘yung pinaka-experimental ko na album ever. And marami akong plinay na elements in terms of music sa paggawa nito. So makakarinig sila ng iba’t-ibang mga sounds. ‘Pag pinakinggan niyo ‘yung album sobrang iba. Ganda,” she said.
According to Yeng, she also wrote a song based on her Siargao experience which she described as one of the most “traumatic” moments of her life.
“May one song. ‘Yung na-experience ko recently sa social media, meron akong kanta dito. ‘Yung sa healing process ko. Pero may mga songs din ako from way back. Mga January ko start sinulat. Iba-iba. Sabi ni Kuya Jonathan Manalo of Star Music, kasi napakinggan na niya ‘yung album. Sabi niya saken nagustuhan niya ‘yung writing ko this time. So it’s different from doon sa mga sinulat ko in the past,” she said.
Sharing what it’s like to write the new songs for her new album, she said: “Sa Synesthesia triny ko talaga dun magsulat as parang sinasabi ko ‘yung story ng mga tao sa paligid ko. This time, parang may elemento ng ganun. Pero ‘yung poetry ko iniba ko, tsaka ‘yung storytelling mas pictures kung ano ‘yung nasa mind ko. So it’s different. Natutuwa ako kasi si Jonathan napakagaling na songwriter and nagustuhan niya ‘yung the way I write dito sa kanta na ‘to,” she said.
Meanwhile, Constantino, who sang the official soundtrack for the TBA Studios film Write About Love, shared what it was like to take on Jolina Magdangal’s “Kapag Ako Ay Nagmahal.”
“Wala akong ginawang version. Siyempre ‘pag nag-wowork ka sa song na iconic, mag-rerely ka sa producer eh. Parang ‘Sir, ano po ba ‘yung gusto niyo pong atake dito?’ ‘Yung producer namin sa OST, ‘yun ‘yung pinakinggan ko. ‘Ano po ba ‘yung gusto niyong atake?’ So very acoustic and tapos ma-airy lang. Mahangin lang na pagkanta. So I think mas more on ‘yung beginning ng song na na ‘Ikaw.’ ‘Yung beginning ng song na mas kalma, ganun,” she said.
